Geometric, Moroccan and Oriental patterns on 10 x 10 cm tiles.
Tiles produced in the capital of Arabic ceramics, the Tunisian port of Nabeul, measuring 10 x 10 cm. The tiles are characterized by an oriental, usually symmetrical, unusual pattern. Tiles in colors symbolizing the multiculturalism of the region, shades of the Orient, blue, green, yellow, orange and black. The patterns reflect the precision and diversity of Moroccan arabesques and mosaics.
A brief historical outline characterizing the current production of ceramics in Tunisia.
It is assumed that the forerunners in the production of simple ceramic patterns were the Sumerians. It is worth adding that this people, for those times quickly developing the then industry and trade, was one of the few to use cuneiform writing. A later society with a great cultural influence on the regions of northern Tunisia were the Cannanites, better known as the Phoenicians. After the establishment of Carthage in present-day Tunisia, the port of Nabuel, a proverbial window to the world, became the cradle of exquisite ceramic forms and patterns. None other than the artists from Carthage were the first to invent mosaics, the forerunner of patchwork patterns. After the Roman conquest of Carthage, and the subsequent invasion of the Vandals, other peoples marked ceramics with patterns close to their religion and culture. Currently, patterns applied to tiles are a kaleidoscope referring to the faith and creations of many ethnic groups.
Why is it worth choosing Tunisian patchwork tiles?
If you are on this page and are wondering about choosing Tunisian tiles, the question seems rhetorical. The phrase "exceptional tiles for exceptional people" is often used. It is true that tiles produced in Nabuel combine tradition with new requirements for quality and precision of workmanship. The production method allows for obtaining uniform tiles, which significantly facilitates the placement of tiles on the designated surface. The method of applying patterns to tiles is serigraphy, the original screen printing. The employees, by hand applying colours to the patterns, provide exceptional aesthetic experiences. The patterns on the tiles harmonize with each other and allow for an almost artistic placement of the ceramics on the selected substrate. The tiles are fired after glazing, which allows for maintaining the high durability of the tiles.
Patchwork patterns on the tiles, or rather their harmony, allow them to be placed in any interior that is important to you. The tiles are ideal for entire walls in the bathroom, kitchen, and placed e.g. in the library, they will create a unique atmosphere.
We encourage you to create your own pattern from the tiles available from us.
